How and why we got here

History

Checkpoint Learning has always been an integral part of Checkpoint's kids’ service across the brand and was integrated in the first Checkpoint Kids magazine.

Checkpoint Kids Magazine is a fully interactive children’s magazine created in response to the first COVID lockdown in early 2020. From the very first issue, Checkpoint Kids Magazine has encouraged children between the ages of seven and 11 to explore videogames beyond the screen. The mantra of the magazine is, ‘for kids by kids’ and every issue provides a safe, curated space for children to develop their curiosity, unleash their creativity and celebrate their own unique relationship with the world of videogames.

Checkpoint Kids Magazine not only features thematically linked game reviews but interesting facts about developers and the industry itself. Together with a range of exciting challenges, the magazine includes a wordsearch and crossword puzzle based on key vocabulary associated with a particular theme. Through its association with the Checkpoint brand, Checkpoint Kids Magazine is able to facilitate interaction with the games industry and beyond. To date, students have interviewed games developers, scientists at the European Space Agency, and even an Olympic medallist.
