Future Vision
How we see games and education
Checkpoint Learning is committed to preparing learners for future careers and societal roles that do not yet exist. Recognising that digital skills and videogame culture increasingly underpin modern life, Checkpoint advocates for the inclusion of these competencies within teacher training and educational practice globally. Digital literacy, supported by a deep understanding of videogame culture, is critical for fostering active global citizenship and preparing learners to navigate an evolving digital world confidently.
Checkpoint Learning strongly believes in the importance of equipping educators with the resources and training necessary to deliver high-quality, future-ready education. This includes advocating for the inclusion of videogame culture and digital competencies within teacher training frameworks, ensuring educators are well-prepared to engage modern learners.
Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programmes currently lack a focus on emerging technologies and digital culture, leaving new teachers ill-equipped to effectively integrate these vital aspects into their teaching practice. Many Early Career Teachers (ECTs) today have personal experience and familiarity with videogames, positioning them as ideal ambassadors to promote gaming culture’s educational potential. However, widespread implementation depends significantly on recognition and validation by educational authorities.
Checkpoint’s long-term vision includes not only raising awareness of videogames' educational and cultural value but also providing universally accessible, quality-assured resources, tailored consultancy, and professional development opportunities for educators worldwide. By embracing emerging technologies, Checkpoint positions itself to deliver education that is globally relevant, affordable, inclusive, and impactful.
Checkpoint Learning actively addresses the limitations of traditional education systems, which often lag behind emerging digital realities. Its forward-thinking approach aims to equip learners with skills relevant to the Fourth (and Fifth and Sixth!) Industrial Revolution, such as critical thinking and creativity. Checkpoint provides forward-thinking, innovative educational solutions that authentically incorporate emerging technologies and digital practices, ensuring global applicability. Checkpoint Learning also supports organisations in aligning with measurable Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) outcomes. Through partnerships with specialist partners such as Mettle Capital, Checkpoint contributes to broader ESG strategies and can support compliance with frameworks such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), enabling organisations to report educational and social impact effectively.
By utilising the ubiquity of gaming culture and ensuring its educational offerings are accessible worldwide, Checkpoint Learning positions itself as an essential provider of education that prepares learners effectively for an ever-evolving global landscape.
